How it went?

The semester is coming to end and this is my last blog post. Tonight, I am now reflecting on how this semester in global issue went. What was my highlights in the semester? What was very important and least important in the semester? Am I a well informed global citizen? Well I would like to think that I am a well informed global citizen after taking a semester in global issues and after all the topics we covered and discussed as a class( United Nations, Environment, Globalization etc...). I believe that everything in the course we discussed was very important in some way but to me the most important topic I think we discussed related to the environment and climate change. There has been a drastic change in the environment that only continues to decrease and cause more problems. Deforestation is an important tactic big companies use to create new buildings, communities etc... but what they do not know is the numerous amounts of living things they are killing or taking away their way of life (homes). Another horrible change that has happened in the environment is the Amazon Rainforest. The Amazon rainforest is the biggest forest in the world but what many people do not know is that the Amazon rainforest has decreased in size drastically because of deforestation. Another man-made issue that effect the environment was the gulf oil spill that killed and affected many sea life. This oil spill destroy thousands of species and their way of life. I think the least important topic in our course was the food production. Yes I believe the way we make our food and how we acquire it is not the best of ways we can think of but in reality I believe its not going to change in the years to come. I feel we should have covered more about the environment and not just scratch the surface because I am sure their is way more to the environment then just the big problems that make national television. Overall this course has turned my into a somewhat well informed citizen. Before entering this course I really never paid any attention to politics or the world in general, but now after fourteen plus more weeks learning about daily issue that have been and always will affect our daily lives. This course has help me understand more about the world and made me aware of the conflicts we face. The big question is can we change it? Will it ever be possible?
